How to get here

Finding your way to White Elephant Safari Lodge and Bush Camp is easy. We might be tucked away in the top northern corner of Kwazulu Natal, yet it is as simple as directly turning off the N2. In fact we are just a stone’s throw away from Swaziland Golela/Lavumisa border, putting us smack bang in the middle between Kruger National Park and Durban.

The route from Kruger National Park, through Swaziland, to Durban remains a very popular tourist route. If you have driven that route you would have noticed the picture perfect Jozini Lake, the surrounding Lebombo and Ubombo Mountains and never-ending bush. I mean who wouldn’t; it makes a very beautiful scene. Most of you probably wondered what could be on the inside of the White Elephant sign board and thought that one day you would stop to find out.

KZN’s best kept secret is that, White Elephant Safari Lodge and Bush Camp is the only lodge in South Africa that offers both land and water based safari activities. Research based activities are also one of our best kept secrets that we want to make known.White Elephant brings a feeling of calm, relaxation and beauty, celebrating the sense of adventure that nature brings, along with the romance of a bygone era.

Our entrance gate is right next to the N2! There are no unnamed dirt roads or hidden turn-offs.

From Durban’s King Shaka International Airport it is an easy 3 hour drive to our gate. However, we recommend a stopover when driving from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg), as a +/- 6 hour drive on a very busy road, can be rather daunting.

For guests that want to save time, we have good news for you! White Elephant has its own airstrip. For pilots that won’t be happy to land on a simple bush airstrip, there is the Mkuze Airport close-by. We will collect our guests. It is an easy 30 minute drive to the lodge.

We know Chartered flights can be very expensive, so we have partnered with Sky Voyage from Durban for cheaper rates valid for 2016. Please contact reservations to inquire about our fly-in package. You also have the option of flying with FedAir’s scheduled 3 weekly flights to Phinda Airstip from Johannesburg. From there a lodge hop can be arranged or a road transfer. Phinda’s Airstrip is about one hour’s drive away from White elephant. The scheduled flight to Phinda airstrip’s rates are per seat.

So there is no excuse for not visiting our lodge. Now is the time to book your stay to experience the hidden gem next to the N2. White Elephant Safari Lodge, "Our special little piece of Africa"
