Scenic flights and/or air charter

Founded in 1975 ZUMAT has been serving the medical community of rural Maputaland through aviation. Medical flights are performed as a service and calling, and is done at no charge to the community or medical personal. Commercial charter flights subsidize the operation. Zumat’s commercial flights range from Durban in the south, through the KwaZulu Natal province into the Mpumalanga lowveld, transferring guests to or from lodges.

Zumat is a non profit organization and is structured as a trust.

Zumat also offers scenic flights over the stunning Maputaland area. You can visit local attractions in the area during your stay at White Elephant e.g. Northern Lake St. Lucia and Wetlands, Lake Sibaya, Kosi Bay, Makatini Flats, Ghost Mountain and our very own Pongola Poort Dam.

AIR ACCESS

SA Express operates daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg to Richards Bay Airport. Private Air Charter from Durban to Mkuze can be arranged with Zumat. The White Elephant Safari Lodge and Bush Camp also have their own landing strip for light aircrafts.
